JobsNearMe addendum
This addendum names every service that receives your data when you use JobsNearMe and says how we handle it. Where something is not live yet, we say we will.
Services that receive your data
- Supabase receives your email address and sign-in, the IP address of each request, and what you save to your account: your answers, profile details, saved jobs, connection requests and messages (all listed under What we keep with your account). Why: it hosts our database and sign-in.
- Google Maps Platform receives the map's viewport and your IP address when a map loads, the text you type into place search, an address or ZIP code you type (sent to be located), and the start point, the job's location and any stop you add (sent to work out a route). Why: to show maps, suggest places and work out routes and drive times.
- Google Analytics will receive page views with any job id removed from the address, and app events that carry only a source, a count, a tier or a list of issues. Why: to count how the site is used. It runs only on a build that has a measurement ID set, and never when your browser sends Global Privacy Control or this device's analytics opt-out is set.
- Google sign-in receives a sign-in request when you choose Google, after which Google sends us your name and email address. Why: so you can sign in without a password and we can fill in your name.
- Juvo's API will receive the coordinates of a job search, passed on by our server. Why: to read nearby jobs from Juvo's own listings; this mode is off in the launch build.
- SendGrid will receive the email addresses and content of the emails we send you, such as sign-in codes and notices — including up to the first 80 characters of a reply to a request you sent through Juvo — and the mail Juvo sends to your relay address. Why: it sends and receives our email.
- Sentry will receive error reports from browsers, the server and the worker: what went wrong, and where in our code. Why: to find and fix bugs; reports go only from our hosted builds that have a Sentry address set.
- Juvo, through the Connect bridge will receive your first name and last initial, and a relay email address in place of your own, when you ask to connect with an employer through Juvo. Why: so Juvo can create the connection in its own system and the employer can reply.
- Juvo Jobs file storage (Amazon S3) will receive a request from your browser (your IP address and browser details) when a photo or video from your Juvo Jobs account is shown. Why: it holds the photo and intro video you added in the Juvo Jobs app.
- GitHub Pages receives the requests your browser makes to the site, including your IP address. Why: it serves this website until the move to Heroku.
- Heroku will receive the requests your browser makes to our site, including your IP address, in the platform's router log. Why: it hosts our website and server.
What we keep with your account
Our database (Supabase, above) keeps these with your account:
- Your email address and how you sign in
- Your first and last name
- Your mobile number: we ask for it so we can text you about your requests once text messages are switched on. Until then it's stored with your account and not used, and we never give it to businesses or to Juvo.
- Your street address, city, state and ZIP code
- Your pay goals, how far and how you are willing to travel, and the hours you want to work
- Your life situation, work preferences, work history and education, as you enter them
- Your two typed intro answers
- A photo or intro video you add, stored in a private folder that no other seeker or business can add to. If your account came over from Juvo Jobs, we keep the links to the photo and video you added there, which stay in Juvo's storage.
- Your consent records: when you first added a photo or an intro video, and which version of the line beside it you were shown
- Your answers to our questions, the summary we work out from them, and how long you pause on each question and which ones you skip (never how long you take on the money questions)
- The profile visibility you chose: open to businesses, connections only, or hidden
- The badges you ask for in your wallet
- How far you are through sign-up, and the job you started from
- Your referral code, the code you signed up with, and your Juvo credits
- Your saved jobs, your connection requests and the messages in them, and which notices you have read
- When you send a request, the business can mark it viewed or saved, and record a reason from a short list if it declines (we filled the position, not hiring for this role right now, another business reason). You don't see these marks; they're deleted when you delete your data.
- What you told the home page you're looking for (how far, how you get there, your hours, the kinds of work and your pay goal), and, if you turn on the weekly email, when you turned it on and where you start, rounded to about a kilometer
- Whether you started a job you connected to through JobsNearMe, about when, and whether you were still there a month and three months later, if you choose to tell us. Businesses never see it, and answers are counted only across everyone
- A record of what happens on your account, such as signing up, the days you visit, saving your answers, the requests and messages you send, and a request to delete your data
How we handle your data
- We will count anonymous funnel steps (which step was reached, which kind of link brought the visit, and the hour) without a cookie, an account or any personal detail, and delete each count after 90 days; a flag in your tab's session storage makes the landing page count once, and our host's router log records the request like any other.
- We will keep only the emails that Juvo sends to your relay address (the address we give Juvo instead of yours) for 14 days, on our server only, then delete them.
- We will send Juvo your first name and last initial, and a relay email address in place of your own, when you ask to connect through Juvo.
- We will email you when Juvo's side replies to a request you sent through Juvo, and include up to the first 80 characters of that reply in the email (never your own words, never in the subject line, and never stored with the notice); the full message stays in Jobs Near Me.
- We will email you once if a request you sent through Juvo hasn't been accepted or declined 3 days after it was sent, to say it is still open.
- We will delete our link to your Juvo relay account when you use Delete my data; we cannot delete what Juvo already holds, and Juvo keeps its side.
- We will let unredeemed Juvo credits lapse when you delete your account, and keep the credit ledger's rows with the link to you removed (a note or referral reference written on a row can remain).
- We delete an account you started with your email and phone but never confirmed from the emailed link, together with your answers, profile and requests, 30 days after it was last used; the record of what happened on it, and any credit entry, stay without your name.
- We will email you at most once a week, only if you turn it on, when jobs added near where you start fit what you kept on your account (how far, how you get there, your hours and kinds of work, and your pay goal, to say which of them pay at or above it), naming up to five of them, with a link in every email to stop; where you start is where your device is, or your profile address, at the moment you turn it on, and we keep it, rounded to about a kilometer, only while the email is on (if you unsubscribe with the link in an email, we clear it within about an hour); if you have unsubscribed from our emails, we do not send it.
- We read a request you send to a business that isn't on JobsNearMe yet, and may answer you as the JobsNearMe team; if the business joins JobsNearMe and accepts your request, it can read that conversation too, the team's messages included.
- We will send error reports to Sentry with query strings, headers, email addresses and phone numbers scrubbed before sending, and Sentry set not to store IP addresses; scrubbing cannot catch every word, so an error message may still repeat text typed into a form.
- We will create your account here from your Juvo Jobs account when this app replaces the Juvo Jobs app, unless you already have an account here, using your email address, your password (kept as the scrambled form Juvo already holds, which we cannot read), your name, phone number and address if you gave them, the links to the photo and video you added there (no business can see them before it accepts your request), and your choice to turn emails off, and nothing else about you, and email you once to tell you, even if you had turned our emails off; if you delete your data afterwards, we keep your Juvo user number, which holds no detail about you, so the account is not made again.
- We never analyze your photo or video.
- We will let a business see your photo or video only after you connect and it accepts.
- We will delete a photo or video you uploaded from our storage within two days of your removing it or deleting your account.

You can download your data, and delete it, from your account panel. These choices are for job seeker accounts.
